Meetings: Tuesdays at 11:45 in the Palm Valley Country Club, Club House. Also available via Zoom.

Unfortunately, President Angelique had succumbed to a malady that sent her to bed. Therefore, Incoming President Priscilla Dewing had even MORE practice in running meetings. It was also GREAT to see Doug Scott back with us again. This Tuesday promised to be a busy day with much to get through!
First up was th induction of Kelly Perez into our club. It is always a good thing to see this happen. Kelly comes from a Rotary family and brought her Mother and Aunt to witness the event. Hordes of present members came forward to congratulate her in the traditional way.
Following on, we delved deep into Club Assembly where committee chairs presented what has happened and will happen within the various sectors of our club. Judy Lozano gave an impressive run down on the Club’s financial situation, it seems that we are in a good place.
Next various Chair people, namely Jennifer Loretta, Tom Tragesser, Maryalice, Ricardo, Leroy, Mark Stanley (your correspondent) and more, entertained the members with details of the wonderful things that we have done recently.
Mark also introduced the new website at www.palmdesertrotary.com and demonstrated that (even without Facebook or any other social media) members can see all the relative posts and details of the upcoming speakers… What an improvement! During Happy dollars we heard some terrible news 😢from Jim Blackburn. the condolences of all the club go with you.
Our meeting concluded with Jennifer Lorretta on the 4-way test and a ding (or was it a dong) from Priscilla to send us on our way.

It was a very busy day today with much to get through.
President Angelique jostled the milling throngs into some sort or order and brought past President Judy Graham forward to give the flag salute. Followed immediately with Tom Tragesser ascending the podium to introduce today’s talk from Sunline Transit. Details of which are below.
Two very special notices were delivered by President Angelique and Jennifer Lorretta . Jim Brock received his Paul Harris “Major Donor” pin in recognition of over $10,000 in donations. Congratulations and thank you Jim.
On a sad note, Nancy Westerholm, a 30-year Rotary member with many achievements of note in our club, is leaving. The whole club stood in appreciation and love for such a caring and amenable person. We wish her all the very best in the knowledge that our hearts travel with her, wherever her destination.
Three knowledgeable personnel from Sunline Transit took the stage to explain, with the help of a great slide show, the overall viewpoint of the company and the way it was approaching the Coachella Valley Community. It was the most interesting presentation with particular interest from members regarding the hydrogen facilities in Thousand Palms.
Thirty-two of the transport buses use hydrogen for power with zero emissions. There are also four electric buses in the fleet but only used on shorter routes as they have a much shorter range. A public hydrogen refueling station is planned for the future as supply costs decrease.
Sunline also offers many services to the community at low or zero cost. Of particular interest was the Taxi Voucher program where senior citizens and those in need qualify for a 50% discount.
With a final 4-way test from Judy Graham, we left to continue our week filled with more knowledge and care for all.
