Tuesday came around again, and eager Palm Desert Rotarians joined together in another fun meeting. With people traveling and escaping the heat, our attendance was noticeably lighter. However, those that were there provided all the energy required!

Leroy led us off with the flag salute, and we were out of the blocks, running. President Angelique (sporting her “camping hat”) was straight into it and Tom Tragesser introduced the speaker for the day. Surprise; it was our own Maryalice, whose topic of the day was The Rotary Foundation Scholarships! As was pointed out previously, the PD Rotary Foundation is one of the biggest contributors to the club, adding funds to a growing number of individuals and grants. Maryalice described where the money had come from, who had contributed and how it was distributed among worthy applicants.

As Maryalice delivered the information so precisely and efficiently, we finished earlier than expected and were left with an embarrassing gap in the proceedings. Luckily, Ryland Penta was on hand to give us an update on happenings in our city and the latest news. This question-and-answer session adequately filled the space with very interesting information about events in Palm Desert.

The winning raffle ticket was drawn; the blue marble appeared in Mary Scott’s hand and then Leroy finished off with the 4way test.
